Product Introduction
Sodium Sulfate Production Equipment employs the Mannheim process, a widely used method known for its high yield and efficiency in producing sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄). Mannheim Furnace Process
The Mannheim Process for producing sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄) is a well-established industrial method, primarily used to manufacture industrial-grade sodium sulfate. The process involves the reaction of sodium chloride (NaCl) with sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) at high temperatures (500-600°C) to produce sodium sulfate and hydrochloric acid (HCl) as a byproduct.
Key Reaction:
2 NaCl + H₂SO₄ → Na₂SO₄ + 2 HCl
Process Steps:
- Raw Material Preparation: Sodium chloride (NaCl) and sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) are mixed in stoichiometric proportions to ensure the correct chemical reaction.
- Reaction: The mixture is introduced into a Mannheim furnace, where it undergoes the high-temperature reaction, yielding sodium sulfate and hydrochloric acid.
- Product Separation: The molten sodium sulfate is discharged from the furnace, cooled, and solidified, while the hydrochloric acid gas is absorbed in water to produce hydrochloric acid.
- Tail Gas Treatment: Any residual gases are treated to comply with environmental regulations, ensuring minimal emissions.
