Compared with ordinary steel rebars, it has many advantages. Its absolute anti – corrosion performance, thermal insulation, tensile resistance, high strength, ease of cutting, and light weight play an important role in all major civil engineering projects. FRP Rebar has been developed as a non – corrosive alternative to steel in concrete reinforcement and is suitable for any structural or architectural application where a material that is corrosion resistant, lightweight or non – conductive is required.

Features of FRP Rebar
- High Tensile Strength: FRP rebar offers 20% higher tensile strength than traditional steel rebar of the same specifications, along with excellent fatigue resistance.
- Lightweight: FRP rebar is much lighter than steel, with a weight that is only 1/4 of steel’s for the same volume, and a density ranging between 1.5 and 1.9 g/cm³.
- Corrosion Resistance: It has exceptional corrosion resistance against chemicals such as acids, alkalis, chloride ions, and low pH solutions, as well as carbon and chlorine compounds.
- Strong Bonding with Concrete: Due to its thermal expansion coefficient being closer to cement, FRP rebar has a stronger bond with concrete compared to steel, ensuring better integration.
- Design Flexibility: FRP rebar’s stable elastic modulus and ability to withstand thermal stress allow it to be easily shaped into various designs, including bends, with good safety performance. It also does not create sparks when striking metal.
- Non-Magnetic: Being a non-magnetic material, FRP rebar does not interfere with magnetic or electromagnetic concrete applications, eliminating the need for demagnetization.
- Easy Construction: FRP rebar can be customized into various standard and non-standard parts with different shapes and lengths. It can be easily handled and bound on-site using non-metallic tension bands for simple installation.
Production process
FRP rebar is produced by combining fiberglass with thermosetting resin through a pultrusion process, where the material is continuously pulled through a heated die to form strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant reinforcement bars.


Applications
FRP rebar is widely used in highways, bridges, airports, wharfs, stations, water conservancy projects, underground projects, and other fields. It is particularly suitable for corrosive environments such as sewage treatment plants, chemical plants, electrolytic cells, manhole covers, and coastal defense projects.
Additionally, it is applied in specialized engineering projects including tunnel construction, foundation pit and slope support, anti-corrosion engineering, and reinforcement of brick-concrete structures.
